We have all seen the movie, It’s a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart and the mean heartless banker, Mr. Potter. It’s very easy to paint the man with the money (in this case, bankers) as cold and heartless and the poor people as warm and wonderful but the reality is that real life is a little more complicated. One of the biggest biblical misquotes is that money is the root of all evils. The quote should be"The love of money is the root of all evil". People with money have contributed some wonderful things such as hospitals, churches, colleges and many of the finer things that we value. The dark side is when money controls. Everyone is familiar with the stories of people gambling away fortunes because they were sure they were going to hit the big one, which sadly never happens. This year, in the words of Luke Skywalker, I challenge you to avoid the dark side and to use money as a tool of good to accomplish great things for you and your family. |
